Manuscripts should be prepared in a word processing program compatible with Microsoft Word and should have at least one-inch margins on 8 1/2-by-11-inch pages.
Manuscripts should be simply formatted. Contracted books will later receive a professional page design. The manuscript need only distinguish the levels of subheadings within chapters (usually no more than three), extracts versus text, and other basic elements in the book. If these elements are clearly identifiable, that will simplify editing, design, and page formatting. (See also "Guidelines for Computer Use," later in this brochure.)
Manuscripts should be printed on a letter-quality printer and on standard paper.
